Three Food Pop-Ups You Need to Visit While You Can

You might have noticed by now that we quite like our food here at Pure Student Living, and we're sure many of you guys do too. If you're already living and studying here in London, you'll no doubt have a few favourite eateries already.

We think one of the coolest things about London's food scene is that it's constantly changing and moving. Literally.

You've probably seen a few 'pop-up' food places around the city as you've been exploring  – you know, the sort of places that are here one day and gone the next. Our advice is to try these out while you can – provided they look and smell any good of course.

So here are some of our pop-up eatery suggestions for the coming months.

Mamas Jerk

Ever had jerk chicken before? If so we probably needn't say more. If not, we can't recommend it highly enough. It's a tad spicy but not overly so – and besides, it's easily cooled down with a bit of coleslaw.

Mamas Jerk is in Market House, which just a couple of minutes' walk from Brixton tube station (the postcode for Market House is SW9 8LN). Trust us, it's worth the journey, and they do everything from chicken and chips to wraps and burgers.

Sutton & Sons (Fish & Chips)

Stoke Newington's favourite fish and chip shop has opened up a second location in Shoreditch's famous Boxpark.

If you've not been to Sutton & Sons' chippy before, we'll tell you a little bit about it. In 1998 Danny Sutton, the owner, opened a fishmongers on Stoke Newington High Street. Then, nearly 15 years later, Danny and his wife Hana opened a fish and chip restaurant just yards away. It made perfect sense, due to the quality and the freshness of the fish, and the rest is history really.

The postcode for their new plaice in Shoreditch's Boxpark is E1 6GY – it's literally right next to Shoreditch High Street station, and just a short walk from both Brick Lane and Liverpool Street Station. It's apparently going to be around for at least six months too, so there's no major rush with this one. Or is there? We are talking about fish and chips after all.

We think one look at the menu will convince you.

Beer & Buns

We've saved the most unusual one until last. This izakaya restaurant is one we'd recommend for the start of a night out.

What is izakaya? It's a Japanese concept. The food is served to accompany and complement the drinks, as opposed to the other way around. This means you'll be able to choose your drop of choice – you'll have loads of different Japanese beers to choose from – and then your food will come to accompany it.

The menu is really varied, so take a look before you go so that you've got an idea of what you're in for. The postcode is EC2A 2AF – so go, go, go while you can.
