Othello at The Riverside Theatre

Orangutan productions premieres its film noir take on the Shakespeare tragedy at this great venue, formerly the BBC studios and now home to some of the country’s most innovative theatre.

This gritty interpretation runs with the themes of jealousy, lust and paranoia to produce a tense and exhilarating drama. A great cast and interesting set pieces means that the play emanates the chill of the original Shakespeare while shifting the focus inwards to create the claustrophobic atmosphere of a hard-boiled Raymond Chandler novel. Stay late at the open-plan Café or River Terrace for a glass of well-priced wine from the extensive list and something to eat from the changing seasonal menu.
