When it comes to the student social calendar, October 31st always has a huge circle around it. Halloween is one of the most anticipated nights out of the year, as students across the city take the opportunity to dress up and head out to a great club night.
This year, Halloween falls on a Friday, so there's a strong chance it'll be even more unmissable than usual. London being London, there are countless events to choose from, and here are five that we think are worth checking out.
- Halloween Special at Egg (Kings Cross, N7 9AX)
Every year Egg pulls out all the stops for Halloween, providing attendees with an unforgettable night. They've revealed that this year's theme is going to be Hollywood Forever and encourage guests to dress up as their favourite movie stars and characters.
Tickets are £10 for student members (you can sign up for free on the Egg website), and doors open at 11pm. The party goes on until 10am on the Saturday morning, so you're guaranteed to get your money's worth.
Students in our Highbury halls will be pleased to know Egg is just a short tube or bus ride away.
- Halloween Festival Twisted Circus at Indigo2 (Peninsula Square, SE10 0DX)
The O2's little sister, Indigo2, is set to host a house, techno and electro event to celebrate Halloween this year. Don't get us wrong – it's an enormous venue that's laid out like an amphitheatre with a huge dancefloor in the middle.
As well as the music from DJs like Colin Francis and Maze & Masters, you'll be able to enjoy a variety of surreal circus acts throughout the night. Tickets are £15 and the fun starts at 9pm.
- Kiss Radio Haunted House Party at Hammersmith Apollo (W6 9QH)
For those who'd like to start having fun a little earlier, this Kiss Radio event begins at 6.30pm. Attendees will get to see live performances from Example, Professor Green and Rizzle Kicks, with DJ acts to follow and continue late into the night.
The Eventim Apollo, as it's now officially known, is less than a five-minute walk away from our Hammersmith student accommodation, and just yards away from Hammersmith tube station – so if you're coming from another part of the city, you'll have no trouble getting there. Tickets start at £35 and can be bought on the Eventim website.
- Halloween Special at Oval Space (E2 9DT)
Fans of techno should certainly consider Oval Space's Halloween Special, as it will feature a live performance by genre pioneering double-act Octave One. Several more DJs will join the Detroit-based brothers, such as Cosmin TRG, and the night is guaranteed to be a wild one.
Doors open at 11pm and tickets range between £10 and £17 directly from the Oval Space website. As the event is expected to sell out you should get yours as far in advance as possible.
- Vamp and Vampire Ball at Browns (Covent Garden, WC2N 4AG)
If you'd like to make a little more of your Halloween than dressing up and having a dance, the Vamp and Vampire Ball may be the perfect solution. You'll sit down and enjoy a delicious three-course meal before anything else happens, and can enjoy unlimited drinks of your choosing.
Tickets are £79 for the evening and can be purchased online, and guests are expected to arrive by 7.30pm so that everything can run smoothly. What's more, if Friday isn't convenient for you, there's another identical ball the very next night.
